A Jackal And His Lawyer - Book 1
Aithor & artist: Oliver Francisco
“I’m glad you’re not perfect, and it’s a good thing, too.
Because if you were, you wouldn’t be you.”
In a strange, mythical land full of talking animals and bizarre creatures, a jackal with amnesia wanders north. Unable to recall even his own name, he is driven onwards by his dreams, which hint at a great evil that must be destroyed..
He is befriended by Kort, a chubby little crow who is often mistaken for an owl. Kort is a lawyer and has a keen intellect, often using legalistic techniques to solve problems.
He also likes to tell stories...
The resourceful pair travel on, encountering many fascinating individuals - and dangers - as they journey towards their goal. Their adventures are punctuated by conversations that often veer into the philosophical, but in a light-hearted vein.
This is an engaging tale with captivating characters, combining humour, entertainment and poetry with more complex ideas. The illustrations are also excellent, whimsical pen and ink drawings of the cute protagonists and their daring exploits.
This would be an excellent choice as a present for a very bright child seeking something to stimulate the brain. It's a pretty good read for grown-ups too!
